Exploring the Layers of the Earth: A Quick Guide

Our latest video takes you on a fascinating journey through the Earth’s layers! Understanding these layers helps us appreciate the complexity of our planet. Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll discover:

Crust
The Earth’s outermost layer, where we live, is divided into two types:

  • Continental Crust: Forms the continents and is thicker and less dense.
  • Oceanic Crust: Lies beneath the oceans, thinner but denser than the continental crust.

Mantle
Located beneath the crust, the mantle is divided into:

  • Superior Mantle: Includes the upper mantle and asthenosphere, involved in tectonic movements and convection currents.
  • Inferior Mantle: Extends to the outer core, hotter and denser, affecting Earth’s geology.

Nucleus
The innermost layers of the Earth consist of:

  • External Nucleus: A liquid layer made of iron and nickel, responsible for generating Earth’s magnetic field.
  • Internal Nucleus: The solid center, extremely hot and dense, composed mainly of iron and nickel.
